Research Groups

The principles that have guided the academic activities and the formation of researchers at Póscom emphasize the activities of its research groups, which provide a productive work environment that enhances the ability to gather and articulate professors and students, in terms of theoretical and methodological affinities. The research groups are led by permanent professors and are all registered in the Directory of Research Groups maintained by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq).

Each research group coordinator has the autonomy to define periodicity, functioning dynamics, participation criteria, and evaluation systems for the activities developed by the group’s members. Those participating in the meetings include professors, researchers, doctoral and master’s students linked to them, as well as scientific initiation scholarship recipients, technical assistance scholarship recipients, undergraduate students doing their final course work, undergraduate and graduate students from other UFBA courses and from other institutions as visitors, associates, or exchange students.

The general dynamic of each of the research groups focus on the discussion of bibliographic references, exercises in methods of analysis of the communication phenomena under investigation, critical examination of research results, as well as the discussion of the activities and research reports of master’s and doctoral students. All master’s and doctoral orientations are, therefore, linked to what is done in the research groups, which does not exclude, of course, additional individualized follow-ups with each of the students.
Members of the research groups promote and participate in national and international institutional exchange activities and national and international academic events, most of the time presenting articles and conferences on the results of ongoing research.
